CMedia 8738 5.1 issues

hi, im new here, and thought id ask some expert help.

ive got a chaintech motherboard (Zenith Ultra) with 5.1 cmedia sound. the bios and software are all set to 6 channel (specific 5.1). however when i add 5.1 speakers to the system, the subwoofer and center speaker seem to be inverted (also with the volume controls). how is this. cvan this be changed by some jumper settings? note that ive tested this on 2 exact same motherbaords and also 2 exact same speaker systems. same thing happens. the speakers say that they are home theathre, pc and something alse compatable? could they be incompatible?

all help appreciated
regards

Hi, Ive found a solution to my problem, hope it works for you. With the chaintech motherboard came a little add-on board (dongle) that plus into the motherboard itself. If my memory serves me right, the board contained the extra outputs to the speakers. On the little addon board was two jumpers. I needed to switch both these jumpers to the other position available. (eg. from 1-2,1-2 to 2-3,2-3). These jumpers determine which channel carries the center speaker and subwoofer audio.

hope it helps

kind regards

I know this might sound obvious, but check your motherboard for jumper settings. also check the software that came with your soundcard / motherboards.

One more thing: maybe check you speaker system itself for wether it has the option to swop center/sub channels.
