Computer to TV

I know very little about this topic, so bear with me on this.

I've set up a computer in my living room, I am putting a BSD on it and programming it to suit my needs, it will retrieve movies from a computer in another room (the two computers are on the same router) and play them from the computer in the living room. The computer in the living room will have a certain media playing software installed to play the movies it gets, I want these movies to display on our television. I know there are various devices out there that allow me to connect my computer to my TV and cause whatever is occuring on the computer to display on the TV screen, I believe I could also say that the TV would be acting as a computer monitor? I am not quite sure what device I need to purchase. Do they usually include some connector to interface between the computer and TV screen? Does the device to let me interface between my computer and monitor use memory in the way a video card does (for instance, the video card may have 128mb of RAM)? Is this device I am in need of simply a video card with extra features, or is there a device specifically for this job that is not a video card?

I was looking on newegg, is this what I want?

Like I said in the beginning, I really have no clue on this topic . However, I'm sure I explained this adequately so that you can provide me with help on this: I just need to know what to buy.

that thing on newegg is to record analog video like cable or from a VCR

for what you want, just get a decent video card and it will have all the right outputs to connect to a TV, most Geforce 6600GT cards will have RCA/S-Video and the HDTV out connectors, i think the 7300 is a pretty good card for what you want but newegg doesn't sell it so you might just want to go with the 6600GT because it has all the nice HDTV outputs as well as RCA/S-Video, (just about all cards have S-Video out)
