Dell Monitor Vertical Moving Lines
Hello,
I recently purchased a Dell Ultrasharp 19" display (1907FP). When viewing darkers colors, there are verticals lines the scroll through the color. It's quite difficult to explain what they look like, it's almost like the color is "flickering". If you've ever used a video camera on a TV and you see the lines scrolling, it's similar to that but 100 lines instead of 5 and much much smaller. I am using a Dell Inspiron 1150, and have tested it with an older dell monitor (not Ultrasharp) and it has no problems. Any ideas as to what could be the cause? Possibly a faulty monitor? Thanks. EDIT: I managed to test the monitor with a desktop computer and this does NOT occur. I'm guessing this means that it's something with my video card. Perhaps the video cart (on-board of the Inspiron 1150) is too old for this monitor? Can I change it's settings to make it work better (or lower the settings on the monitor somehow)?

Firstly, have you tried updating the drivers for the graphics card ?
Also, try lowering the resolution or/and the refresh rate if the problems continue.

I just tried downloading the video card drivers from the Dell website, however the setup said that the drivers it was trying to install were older than the ones that were present.
I've tried lowering the screen resolution and refresh rate but with no success. Between 60, 70, and 75 Hertz, the 70 makes the lines a bit less noticible, but still definitely there. |

What make/model is your video card ? It's always best to download drivers direct from the vendors website.

It's an Intel integrated chipset that's part of the motherboard I believe. I tried downloading the latest video drivers from Dell, but they were out of date.

If it's Intel - you'll probably be able to download it from Intels site.
If you go to Start > Run and type 'dxdiag' (without the quotes) and then click on the 'Display' tab, this will give you all the information about your graphics card. If you are having trouble finding them, post the info here and I'll have a little look for you. |

Hello,
I managed to use dxdiag and an Intel program to detect the chipset as: Intel(R) 852/855 GM/GME chipset I am having troubles locating a driver for this, so any help would be greatly appreciated. EDIT: Laptop was purchase December 04, so I would assume it would have the latest drivers available then (I believe Windows Update also updated some drivers) |

I currently have driver 6.14.10.4396 (according to the Dell install that says I have a newer version that what it's trying to install).
When trying to run the program from the link you provided: "This driver cannot be installed on this computer. Please contact the computer's manufactuter for further information. Setup will exit." |

Does it try and install or does it just go straight to that error message ?
