did my sound card die?
my audio was working fine untill i started up my comp today. when i try and play a mp3, the computer beeps and a message which says "bad direct sound driver error code 88780078" then winamp freezes. i have an integrated sound card so i use nvidia's nforce for my audio drivers. my motheboard is a msi (i have one of those mini computers). i uninstalled nforce and then restarted my comp and installed it again. still doesn't work. when i go into control panel then click on "sounds and audio devices" on the volume tab it reads "no audio device" and all the options are greyed out in the volume, audio, and voice tabs. when i go to device manager, there is no warning symbols on my " sound, video and game controllers" and under that (+) it lists : audio codecs, legacy audio drivers, media control codes, video codes. i don't know what else i should be doing so if you can help me out.. please do. thanks in advance!

Check your BIOS settings and make sure the onboard sound didn't somehow get deactivated.
