HI guys,
I'm looking for a video card that will enable me to connect 2 screens. I'm working with programs such as Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator and I"d like to put the toolbars on one screen, and my working area on the second. Could you please give me suggestions ? I"m looking for a good money-performance deal. Thanks !! ![]() |

A lot of nVidia cards have dual monitor support and ATI should have as well... May want to check out their sites to see which one fits your budget.

Just about any ATI card from 9200 up has dual monitor support. But if you plan to get a Radeon 9200, dont get an ATI card....Best if you get a Gigabyte or Sapphire Radeon 9200. You get one of these, the cards have support for a DVI+VGA display layout

I Have an acer notebook, running windows XP. I run dual monitors out of the box. For me, right click on the desktop, properties, click on the box labled 2, then check Extend my windows desktop onto this monitor.
Does anyone know if I can install a graphics card to allow me to run 3 monitors? The laptop screen, plus 2 flat panels on either side? |

I used to run two video cards for dual monitors (one AGP and one PCI) and that worked good. I actually upgraded my AGP video card to one that supported dual monitors by itself, but there are some benefits to using two seperate cards so continued to use my PCI card for the second monitor. The main difference is with one video card, you can only have one directx overlay type thing running at a time -- for example, you cant have a game running on one monitor and a movie running on the other. However running two seperate cards that above scenario can be done with no problems. The card I have now is a GeForce4 ti4200 which is a few years old, works fine for general use and you can probly pick one up for ~$50 now.
jsbruns, as far as I know a laptops video card is a permanent component of its mainboard. I don't think you have the ability to add one to your current setup. |
