I use a keyboard. A keyboard is the same weather it has a button to deliver pizza on it( I would love that) or is regular. The only buttons you ever end up using ever are a-zA-Z0-9 space and the mouse.....

i have a keyboard that has a f-lock key, its an extra "feature" that is nothing but a PITA, to get into the BIOS you need to wait for USB to come up then hit the f-lock key exactly once then hit F2, even knowing the exact keys i need to hit to get to the BIOS i end up trying 10 times to just get into BIOS, after using such a keyboard you will never think that all keyboards are created equal again also if the keyboard is cheap it will fall apart on you (i have had some $10 keyboards loose all their keys when it fell just 2 feet), the keys on a cheap keyboard just suck too, you will use a keyboard every time you use the computer so its best not to get a cheap keyboard, the Saitek one has awesome keys, its built well, and has not extra stupid features that take up space or mess with you (looking at the pictures it looks like the logitech ones may have extra keys that i think just take up space, though i suppose you may actually use them, but i don't) |

the logitech ones i posted are gaming specific. The ones on the left are macro programmable keys. It also has a toggle switch to let you switch gaming devices i beleve, plus the standard volume controls, outside of that, no extra keys.

I'd vote for Saitek, but it really comes down to how they feel for you and if you need programmable keys.

Ok, ive been doing some digging and I cant figure it out. The Logitech Keyboards have that toggle switch at the top left. With a Computer Icon, and a Joystick Icon. Ive looked on the site, Newegg, and even gone into Bestbuy and looked on the box itself, but nowhere doest it explain what the Purpose of that toggle is.
Does anyone Know what it does? |

I have a logitech G-15 and i love it...
First of all, the toggle switch basically disables the "Windows" key, so you can't accidentally minimize your game in the middle of some intense action. A nice little perk. As for the 18 programmable "G" keys on the left, i really only use 2 or 3 of them per game, because they are the only ones i can reach with my pimky finger, but it is handy to have. The media keys work just like any other media keyboard, and i make use of them all the time, so its nice to have as well. As for the G-15's LCD display, its pretty neat, there are not that many applications that support it yet, but the ones that do are nice. For example, my Ventrilo info (i'm using the latest beta version) just pops right up there so i know who is talking while i'm playing my games, it also has a little media display to tell me which song is playing, and there is a clock, and performance monitor. Beyond that a few games i have found to work with it, and there is a TON of 3rd-party addons for added functionality.. there is also an SDK available if you want to make your own. its a pretty kickin' keyboard. /rant |

Oh the only downfall to the G-15 that i noticed, is the "USB Hub" on the top of the keyboard. there are 2 usb ports, which is cool to have, until you realize that they are USB 1.1 ports. Lame.
You'd think that if they spent all the time making a nice gaming keyboard they would at least have usb 2.0 for those ports. Oh well, you can't win them all i still love the thing |
