I've been checking out the same here. If I had to choose between 6800GT and 9800 pro, I'd definetely go for the 6800. It comes with DDRII, which is faster, as well as cinefx3.0, which is nexgen. If you wanted an x800 pro you'd also need to get a new PCI express capable motherboard, but still that wouldn't make up for it. The 6800GT seems to be the best video card around. We'll just have to wait for an PCI express 6800 card!

they have x800 APG cards. As for the 6800 PCI-ex, they will have them in the GT and Ultra, the vinilla version is be dropped and a 6700 is being picked up, these won't have the extra pipelines disabled, they won't be there at all.

Well, the 6800 gt is nice, but the all depends on what you want. Doom3 = 6800 gt. 99.9% of al first person shooters = x800 pro or xt. imo the x800 is the best.

Take a look at 6600gt while you're at it.

Geforce 6800 OR Radeon 6800 PRO

ok so i know geforce 6800 GT is prob the best choice for a video card, but i am still wondering which video card is better....

geforce 6800 standard
Or
radeon 9800 PRO

since the standard 6800 is lowest in its class i was wondering if the 9800 PRO beats it out.

review

The 6800 will be the socks off the 9800 in every possible benchable benchmarks. I have both, the 6800 will tear the 9800 into shreds and then spit it out and laugh at it was it runs circles around whats left. Then if you can unlock the extra pipelines, and vertex shaders, it will start to do a little dance while running around what is left of the card.

almost happy

I bought a bfg geforce 6800 oc WOOOO it's incredible on all games except farcry! I definetly expected more out of it i'm not sure what it is but maybe farcry needs me to upgrade more on my pc.

i'm running a
p4 2.0
512 mb ddr 2700
and of course my 6800

now i'm thinking my memory is holding me back quite a bit as i do like to game and am slowly building a monster out of my package compaq system. I dont' dig my motherboard and will probably upgrade that eventually because my it's memory capablilites are maxed out at pc2700 i'd much rather have a gig of pc3200 in there SOOOO thats a work in progress. Could it be my processor? 2.0 is pretty slow compared to teh 3.0 in most gaming machines nowa days.

The GT is a lot better than the standard one. Just don't go Ultra, its not that much better than the GT.

I have a GT and I have had no problems running any game at max settings so far. I have to admitt though that my monitor only goes to 1280x1024, which is just fine for me.... for now. I plan on upgrading my monitor with part of my tax refund.
