Green Static playback
Hi,
On top of all my other problems with this stupid computer, I have another. I recently purchased a Casio Exilim S600 digital camera. When I uploaded the movies that I shot, I get playback problems. The audio is fine but the video is not. I get green static screen. Attached is a screenshot. Funnily enough, when I was pressing the "Print Screen" for the screen shot, it returned a black screen unless I had the movie playing. So in the end, I had to take an actual photo of my monitor. I am running Windows XP Professional on a P4 Intel 2.4Ghz system with Windows Media Player 10 and a NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400. I want to watch my videos! Any solutions or ideas on what the heck is going on here!? Thanks very much! |

Can you watch the videos fine on the camera ? How are you uploading the video to the computer ?
Also, what format are the videos being recorded in ? e.g. '.avi', '.mpeg' etc |

It's avi format and yes, they work fine on my camera prior to uploading them on to my computer.
I haven't always had this problem... when I first got it, movies played back just fine but now somehow, it doesn't anymore! |

Have you updated the drivers for your graphics card lately ?
Try running the video through Winamp to see if it works on that |

.
I just found out using GSpot that...
M4S2 - Fully Compliant MPEG-4 v2 simple profile codec ... is not installed. Where can I get this from? I've done a search but return all these websites that mention it but not able to download it... Thanks. |

I fixed it!!!
I did need the M4S2 codec and it was odd that WMP didn't automatically download it even though it's set to do so. Go figure I suppose! Thanks again. |
