HP Express Card Analog TV Tuner - Where's the signal come from??
I am thinking of buying an HP Express Card Analog TV Tuner for my HP Pavilion dv5215us Entertainment Notebook PC , but I am not sure how it picks up a TV signal.
Does the Express Card have a hole in it to put the cable from the wall in it, or does it just pick up TV signals through the air. I want to know if I'll be able to pick up TV signals and still have the portability of my laptop or if I'm going to be restricted to the length of my cable. Any information on this would be much appreciated. Thanks. |

Hi JLuv3283 and welcome to Dev Shed.
Please DO NOT cross post on these forums - it won't help you to get an answer any quicker. The card probably has a port to attach a USB Infra-Red reciever onto it. You will need to have Windows Media Centre Edition (MCE) installed on your laptop though, don't think these are compatible with any other version of Windows.

So there will be something that hooks up to my cable box and then that will send a signal to the infrared thing?
If that's the case I guess I won't be able to pick up TV anywhere other than my house. |

I'm not an expert on these, but I'm sure they are meant for Home use only.
Not sure how you would get a TV signal on the move - hmmm, I'm intrigued now |

I was just browsing to learn about my HP card and came across this entry. I just wanted to let you know there is a Slinger available for watching TV on the go. I use one. It connects to your home cable system and you can watch your own cable anywhere as long as you have an internet connection. It's pretty neat
Just thought I'd let you know.Tina Quote:
