HP Pavilion zd8000 Laptop video problems
My laptop was working great but all of the sudden when ever I play a game like Halo or Splinter Cell 3 when I would actually launch the game past the game menu I see these lines and weird colors on the screen and maybe if I am lucky the ATI control panel will do a VPU recover and not have to reboot. I have a ATI Mobility Radeon X600
128MB video card in it but it dose this with every game I have. I thought it could be a bad video driver but I used this driver without problems before but updated anyway. That didn't work so I updated the BIOS it said that it would fix this but didn't. I now have the latest and still have the same problem. The really weird thing is this happened about 3 months ago, went away and now it came back. I even tried formating and reinstalling Windows XP and tried Windows Vista Beta RC1 but still no luck. Is there anything I could do without sending this laptop back to HP and pay for a repair like a video card firmware/BIOS upgrade? I thought it could also be overheating but it is on a well ventilated area and has 3 fans in it that all work. Thanks for your time. If you need any more info, photos, or what ever feel free to ask. It be nice to get this fixed.

Do you get any error messages ? Does this only happen when you attempt to play a game ?

The only error message I got was from ATI that it restarted the VPU because it stopped responding and this only happens in games for some reason. I have a video of what happens here . Sorry about the quality. Recored on my phone. Sometimes just the screen goes black and the game exits or distorted colors and lines come up and don't go away until restart.
