Is this a good/decent video card?
I've been looking for GOOD cheap video cards and while searching and reading about the Apollo GeForce 4 MX4000 128MB DDR w/TV OUT AGP VGA CARD I want to know if anyone knows anything about this card or if someone owns it that could possibly recommend it to me. I myself don't have to much of an income being 16 and would like to find a relatively cheap card that I could play HL2 and CS:Source and other high-end games with fairly good graphics. Thanks =D

What kind of money are you looking to spend?

Well I don't want to spend to much money no where above $100. Preferably $50 but $80 would probably be the most i'd spend if that. I'd like a high-end card that can play games well cause right now playing HL2 with the integrated card I have now, it just don't cut it. I'm amazed I can run the game first off, I mean I can't even change the vid settings without getting a memory error from the integrated card. I'd like something with at least 128mb DDR and directx 8 but more likely 9 support (for hardware, I know theres a difference between hardware and software directx support) though i'm sure directx 9 support are on the more expensive cards.

Did i hear integrated card? Ow. What are your other computer specs? I unfortunately had the nvidia fx5200, when i played hl2(singleplayer) and i couldnt get much further above than about 30-40 fps. Can't say what luck you may have with either.

Well I mean my parents bought this computer and don't really care about what it had just as long as it was "new" :-/
But ummm its got a 2.4GHZ p4, 512mb of ram (not ddr I dont think) I could upgrade to 1gb if I wanted. But yeah at times when ummm the environment was big in hl2 I what literally seemed like 4 fps... if that! But I was looking at newegg.com and found a 80$ radeon 9550 like 128 or 256mb I cant remember. Sounded good but i'm not sure, i'll get the full info later |
