Laptop to TV; S-video. Will this work?

I am assuming it will work. But as I hate wasting money I like to get confirmation first lol

basically my laptop has an S-video port as does my OLD tv

so my question is, will this work?
Didn't realize I couldn't post a link, so I'll explain the cable lol
    its a 7 Pin to 4-Pin S-Video cable.

Also this will be my first time trying this method, is there anything I need to do to get the laptop to detect the TV as a monitor? or will it be plug & play?

    Thanks, in advance.

Welcome to Dev Shed. If your laptop and TV have an S-Video port, it'll be fine. It's plug and play, however, you would need to adjust your display settings to display to the TV.
