Mic problems...

Ive been having trouble with getting my microphone to work as of late, in the past i never had a problem.

I have Win XP and sigma tel sound card and when i do my mic test that xp offers all i get when i try and record is this nasty distortion feedback until i crank the volume down heh. Any help would be much appreciated and will supply more info if needed thx =)

Hiya and thx for the welcome =) Nope its the same mic ive had since ive had this computer. It just all of a sudden one day while i was on ts(teamspeak) nobody was able to hear me on thhe other end all they got was distirtion, so when im trying to do xp mic check all i get is the same disortion, hmm maybe need to update driver?

Have you tried to update your drivers ?

It is possible that the mic itself is faulty, but try updating drivers for it in the first instance.

Ok will try to update audio driver, really tough finding sigma tel drivers i find.

Also i tried a friends mic to see if it was my mic being faulty but i got the same issue.

Yeah, I believe that you can no longer get drivers from SigmaTels site anymore, that true ? If you are having trouble though, have a look at Driver Guide

Yep, seems they dont offer drivers for the sound cards... i might just have to go get me a new sound card since they one i have seems to be a relic

Do you know the model of your sound card ? If you do, post it here and then I'll go have a look around for drivers for you.

I think this is it SIS AC' 97 ? if not let me know and i'll try and see if i can find the version for you.

There is a list of Sigmatel sound card drivers here. Have a look at them and see if they do. Note that the Win2000 drivers should work on XP too.
