Mic & Speakers 1::M Many PC's
A few PC's hooked up with a KVM, but only one set of speakers, and mic.
Any ideas on sharing the speakers and mic between all three machines? Looked on DevHardware, but even the Forum Search defaulted to www.igrep.com, which appeared to time out. Quote:

Just change the drop-down to 'Advanced Forums', and you'll get the proper search thingy...

I currently have some audio switches to do this. Cheap crap from Radioshack/Maplin/Your nearest retailer gives me 4 phono inputs (so you'll need 4 minijack to phono leads) and a pair of phono outs. Rotator switch on the front lets you select your input to listen to. Vice versa could be used for microphones. I also have a similar box to switch a 2 port usb hub between 4 inputs although I don't use it much.
I'm currently working on a switch that'll let me control my KVM, audio switches, etc with one keypad, prototype is on my desk, but, as usual, time doesn't allow me to make it anything more than that. But the idea with that is you can switch the monitor, mouse, keyboard, speakers, usb devices, etc all via one switch controller thingy... Possibly one of those seperate numberpads you can buy? Anyway. One day I'll have it all working ![]() |

Or you could get a patch bay and route anything anywhere anytime on any whim ... that's the way I do it ;-) For audio routing anyway. Won't help with the mouse and other peripherals.

Patch Bay, is there another name for that? |

Not a name that I use. It's audio recording gear, not computer gear. I'm referring to these and I have everything routed through mine. Synths, computer, CD player, VCR/TV, etc. |
