Monitor just for games?
I just got a used, free, 150lb., Gateway monitor. No cords or cables. I half half the cables issues tackled and need help with finding out if this will even work.
I want to used this monitor as a dedicated screen for my PlayStation 2. My question is..."If I buy the following adapter to connect between the RCA Video Out (yellow) of the console and the VGA port connection on the back of the monitor will it all work?" The cable can be seen at the following link: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10401&cs_id=1040113&p_id=2509&seq=1&format=2&style= If this will not work, what will I need? |

no, that is for computer to TV (and assumes the computer supports the TV but is missing the connector)
the cheapest way is to buy a VGA adapter (it was included with the PS2 Linux kit, but Sony stopped making it so its very hard to find) or splice together one but both require that your monitor supports sync on green and you game supports "progressive scan" (not many do, but some like SOCOM do), if your games support progressive scan but your monitor dose not have sync on green you can add this to make it compatible if your games do not support progressive scan you have to buy a converter, those are much more expensive, linky

I did find out after powering up the monitor that it has TV Mode and Computer Mode to it, if that will make a difference.
