Check the device manager and make sure you don't have a conflict in resources.

Hi Jonny,
I had the same issue with the LINEX FM TRANSMITTER - really annoying. This is a very rough and ready fix that I came up with on Win2k: -> Go to Control Panel > Sounds and Multimedia > Audio Tab -> Select your SOUND CARD as the preferred device. -> Install a small sound recorder program with a 'pause' button, such as 'Audacity': http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ -> Under the properties/preferences of the sound recorder select you SOUND CARD as the recording/input device and the LINEX FM TRANSMITTER as the playback/output device. -> Press record and then pause the recording...DISCO! The little blue transmit light on the LINEX FM TRANSMITTER should light up. This means that the Sound recorder is feeding the sound card output to the LINEX FM transmitter, and does not seem to hog resources. I have had a look at a lot of mixing programs and cant find a more elegant solution that sits in the background - any suggestions to tidy up this very dodgy fix would be appreciated. Would love a simple background app that does the same trick... Hope that this helps, David. ![]() |

Hello all,
I've been toying with this multiple sound card issue for some time. Here is a bit of the case history, I wanted to create a Jukebox for my mp3's with a simple interface that could be controlled from my PDA and PC. When I found out about the usb FM Transmitter this added an extra functionality of roaming music that I can listen to anywhere in the house on various radio's. Now the jukebox is also hooked upto my sound system in my lounge and actually sits in my Hifi stack (thin client PC with sound sensitive PC MOD lights mounted around it for that proper jukebox effect). I wanted it to run the music through both soundcards (onboard and FM) at the same time but I didn't want this to be something I had to log onto the box to set up. I did come up with an alternative option which might work for you guys as well. Instead of running both cards together I've made it easy to switch between them very easily. Using a program called Autohotkey (http://www.autohotkey.com) I can assign very specific scripts to hotkeys and found one someone had written for XP to change the soundcard setting. A quick tweak and it works for 2000, with the addition of a usb numpad which sits just beside my tv I can now switch between the 2 cards with ease. No large keyboards or having to boot my laptop to connect to the box to do this. If people find this helpful and are interested I could post the script for the sound card change. Regards, M. |
