there is no audio device detected to load drivers

In my case, there is no audio device detected to load drivers to. I am using (trying to) the on board audio from a new G965 INtel baord. Audio is enabled in the BIOS. The UAA HD audio driver is loaded. I believe Windows is recognizing the on board audio device as a PCI device instead of a Sigmatel device or whatever it is.

Any clue?

I'm having the same problem with Vista RC1 and the Intel DG965HW motherboard. Audio drivers wont load. I get the following errors:

"Cannot initialize Dolby Master Studio API"
"Cannot initialize Dolby Digital logic encoder API"
"Sonic focus drivers must be loaded for this application to work."

These error message now show up every time I boot.

I have no sound at all... Not even during initial startup... no beeps... no peeps.

Please help! I have the same problem. Intel D945PWM board, brand new, tried to install every driver package that Intel has, and always get the same thing.

"Cannot initializee Dolby Digital Logic encoder API"
"Sonic Focus drivers must be loaded for this application to work"

I have not connected front panel audio, and have on board audio enabled in BIOS with front panel disabled ('cause I don't really care about it).

In device manager, the Sigmatel High Definition Audio Codec is throwing a code 10 - This device cannot start.

I've tried the kb888111 but it didn't seem to help. This is a brand new computer and it's driving me NUTS!!!

I've Fixed the problem

Hi,

I think i found how to fix the problem...

follow those steps:

1. uninstall the driver and the application (SigmaTel)
2. Restart and upload the Bios setup
3. Go to Power.... and Disable Intel Quick Resume.
4. save the new settings [F10] and restart.
5. install the driver and the application again

Hope it works on your system.
I also disabled things i don't use, try it also.

bye
Tal

I'm having the same problem. MB: Intel D945GTP. Today I received a Windows update and I thought it may have overwritten the Intel/Sigmatel Drivers, but It did not appear to be audio related. In my Add/Remove Programs list, I did notice that I didn't have kb888111, but rather kb835221, a "High-Definition Audio Codec" (had it for a few days). I removed it and now I am at kb888111. I then tried everything posted in this thread, including taltal's advice, but my BIOS did not have the option for "Disable Intel Quick Resume". I updated my BIOS, still no option, still the same "Device Object not Present" error when installing the Intel/Sigmatel drivers. It's nice to see more than one person trying to help. Any assistance is appreciated!

Talking I have finally regained my sanity, perhaps you can too.

The solution that taltal posted did not seem to work for me. But here is the solution that did do the trick.

Go to Intel's website and download the latest BIOS for your motherboard. I found mine below: Intel (Love Valley G) G965 Viiv Motherboard BIOS Revision: MQ96510J.15A.0307
1) Install the BIOS (after double clicking the zipped file, you'll probably have to go to start, run and type the following: C:\Cabs\9536604\MQ96510J.15A.0307.EB.EXE , then click OK)
This will update your BIOS and restart you computer but there is a good chance that it still won't work so continue with the steps below.
2) power down the computer
3) unplug the computer
4) push and hold the power button for five seconds
5) then let the system set for one minute.
6) After waiting one minute, plug the computer back in and power on the computer. Your sound should be restored.

If you still have problems, get the most recent driver from the Intel site for Sigmatel. I got mine (file name listed below):
Download Audio: Sigmatel 92XX [5.10.5208_XP32_XP64_MCE_2K]

After it installs, restart and you should be good to go.

Good luck!

This worked for me - YAY!

I have a brand spanking new Intel 975XBX2 board and the audio was fine until I installed that first boatload of XP updates from Microsoft. This update did indeed include the High Definition Audio Drive Package - KB888111.

The symptoms were the same as others here:

- no audio

- in the device manager, the "Sigmatel High Definition Audio Codec" had a yellow circled exclamation point.

- the device status was "This device cannot start - Code 10"

After reading through this forum, the FIRST thing I tried was a BIOS update and it worked like a charm. For my mobo's BIOS it was updated to vers. 2395 dated 12/20/2006.

Good luck to anyone having this problem - I know how frustrating this kind of thing is, especially with a new machine! And thanks to everyone with all helpfull recommendations.

I too have tried it all...

I'm not a computer wiz like a lot of you probably are. But I do know a thing or two about troubleshooting and researching troubleshooting.

I too have the Intel (Love Valley G) G965 Viiv Motherboard in my new Gateway.

I received the "Sonic Focus drivers must be loaded for this application to work." and had no sound. The previous person spoke about the window updates, and I agree that's when the audio stopped working.

Did the BIOS upgrade. But like an idiot didn't read the whole way through. The turning off of the computer steps are important. After 2 hours of frustration I reread and got it working.

Thanks y'all!
-Kendra

Problem Solved

I figured it out!

A question mark indicating that it cannot find the audio object or hardware means that there was a defect off the assembly line.

I telephoned Intel, and all they had me check was whether the audio was turned on at the BIOS (F2). Once they confirmed, they honored their warranty and replaced it.

I installed the replacement and whalaa, it work like a charm (after about 15 reboots).

If you have this problem, replace the motherboard. You can't fix it with patches or new BIOS's.

Wayne
