I had the same problem.....

I got the following error message for the Intel Audio Studio Controller: "Cannot initialize Dolby Digital Logic Encoder API." My dealer told me Intel's software had a problem and he had seen this crop up before.

He had me go to Intel's website and download an updated BIOS for my board and an updated copy of Intel's Audio Studio Controller. Once I installed them, the problem was solved.

I am having a similar problem, with a newly purchased Depbranded HP pc.

I am having trouble even identifying what the audio device is? (it is on-board audio) how do I identify if?

No audio

I am having the same problem with windows showing no audio device. I recently reformatted my computer and reinstalled the OS and drivers. Everything works fine until I get the windows XP service pack 2 update. Thats when I get the "no audio device" under control panel; sound and audio devices. Is there anything you suggest.

Thanks,

Jason

I've read the whole thread, and nothing here sounds similar to my issue.

My hard drive crashed, so I had to buy a new one and replace it. Additionally, I had to go and buy Windows XP (sp2) and installed it on my computer. I couldn't find any device software in all of the packaging I have for my computer, so I can't use that to install the sound driver. It is an integrated audio on a Gateway 5200XL (p4, 3.00GHz)

I can't figure out what I need to do in order to even find my audio on my computer. Thanks!

No Audio Device

When the device manager says there is no problem with the sound card drivers and that everything is working fine, but in the control panel under sounds there exists no audio devices.

I spent many days searching the internet for answers to this. I tried every answer to no avail! My blood pressure was through the roof, I pulled out all my hair, and I was about to throw all my toys out of the play pen, AND then I struck oil!!!

here is the fix:-

go to control panel/administrative tools/Services

once in there go down to the windows audio then right click on it and go to properties and make sure that the startup is set to automatic, then start the service.

hope this helps someone out.

If the above does not work try updating to directX 9 and then pray GOOD LUCK

Did both, and no luck. I think I'm going to have to buy a sound card for this computer, then. It sucks, but if you guys can't help, I don't know if anyone can. Thanks.

Have you had any luck yet? Is your sound card enabled in the BIOS? Have you reinstalled the driver for your sound card? Is the sound 'on board or a card?

I haven't reinstalled the driver

Have you installed the mobo driver?

you will need to remove any spaces in the addresses

here is a link to your mobo specs -
http : //h10025. www1 .hp. com /ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00378480&lc=en&cc=us&dest_page=prodinfoCategory&tool=prodinfoCategory&query=Presario%20SR1610NX&dlc=en&product=1127350

here are two links for the Audio driver - http : // www .opendrivers. com /freedownload/211925/realtek-alc202-alc202a-ac-97-audio-codecs-driver-a3.54-download.html

when you have been redirected to the download select -
Realtek ALC202/ALC202A AC'97 Audio CODECs Driver A3.54 in opendrivers. com

OR realtek - here is the download page at Realtek for it
http : // www .realtek. com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=14&PFid=23&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

OR
Here is the link to MSI for all your mobo drivers including audio.
http : //global .msi . com .tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1033

I hope this helps!

If this does not work I will give you directions for checking your BIOS
