Please Help Me - No Sound on Laptop

Hello,

I have purchased a laptop from a catalogue a few months back and I was extremely surprised to find that it came without a make or model number anywhere on it. It was listed as a "Q Multimedia" laptop and that is all I know.

My problem is that since I have had the laptop I cannot seem to find any sound. There is beeping when the laptop is switched on, but there does not seem to be any sound at all. When I click on the control panel and go to the sounds and audio section, everything is faded out and it actually says "no audio device".

In the device manager under the sound option it says:

-Audio Codecs
-Legacy Audio Drivers
-Legacy Video Capture Devices
-Media Control Devices
-Video Codecs

None of the above have question marks or anything next to them and it says device is working properly when I click on them.

There are question marks under the other devices section and those are:

-Ethernet Controller
-PCI Device
-SM Bus Controler
-Video Controller
-Video Controler (VGA compatible)

Now I can't see any of those being the problem?

How can I fix this no sound problem? There is a microphone symbol on my laptop so really it should have sound?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am desperate to get the sound onto the laptop now, even if it means buying a sound card or something?

Hi AimeeLou1984 and welcome to Dev Shed.

Stupid question, but have you tried turning up the volume !?

Have you been into the BIOS to ensure that the on-board sound is enabled ?

Hello

Yes I went to the sound screen where the volume controls are and it is all faded out. How would I get into the Bios to see if the sound is enabled (i'm completely new to this!)

Kind Regards,
Aimee
