Quiet Sound

I've got Quiet sound on a brand new Everex Laptop.
THe card is a Realtek AC93. There is only one speaker, but I'd still expect the laptop to make noise beyond the whisper it's currently making. Sound is on at full blast in the master control panel. Also it's 100% in WMP.

Have you tried to increase the volume on any volume keys that are on the laptop keyboard ?

Yeah, it increases the master volume. The sound is still real quiet. I think it's at max... I found part of the laptop documentation and it said "for higher quality sound, plug in an external amplified speaker or headphones."

Oh well. At least I got a laptop!

sometimes there are multiple volume controls that can only be accessed from the volume preferences (the thing with a lot sliders), its sometimes "master" and "front" that both need to be up

as as aitken325i said, you need to use the keys (fn combos) on the keyboard, some laptops have a BIOS volume control can can't be adjusted with software

and you need to remember that most laptops are a lot quieter then a desktop system, they are very tight on space so they can only have small speakers
