Exclamation Radeon 9200 SE 128mb has problems running directdraw and direct3D

I just recently purchased a radeon 9200 SE and it is running on 4x AGP. I have direct X version 9.0 b. I have updated the drivers for the VGA but not the ATI Catalyst nor FLASH BIOS as I am having troubles getting them to work (if you could help with that as well, please).

I tested DirectDraw and Direct3D and this is what happened:

DirectDraw test results: Failure at step 7 (User verification of fullscreen bouncing): HRESULT = 0x00000000 (error code)
Direct3D 7 test results: Failure at step 32 (User verification of Direct3D rendering): HRESULT = 0x00000000 (error code)
Direct3D 8 test results: Failure at step 32 (User verification of Direct3D rendering): HRESULT = 0x00000000 (error code)

If anyone could help me I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks

It was the only card they had that ran at 4x agp as my mother board is crappy (ebay parts, what can you expect).

I believe SE stands for "special edition" and they are stripped down versions of the cards. Don't buy them unless price is an all-consuming issue and you don't game.
FYI: most if not all 8x AGP cards are backwards compatible to run 4x as well.
Updating the catalyst drivers should be simply uninstalling the current ones and installing the new ones.
I would consider looking at a new inexpensive card though, if you play games.
I would also consider getting windows 2000 (or xp if your computer can handle it). It is much stabler and better than Win98.

I tried updating a while ago, but then I had to reformat my hardrive and stuck with win 98. I also bought a 128 mb radeon 9600 that wasnt backwards compatible and niether was the regular 64 mb radeon 9600 so I had to go with this one.

Exclamation 9200 se works

Well i have an ati 9200 se on my computer with winXp and works! If you want to update The BIOS for your video card you should look no further than yor driver cd that should contain an utility for bios updating but you can destroy your card, I recommend updating your drivers!

Cool ATI Radeon 9200 DirectDraw and DirectX 7 and DirectX8 failing tests

There is a solution to this problem. ATI's drivers are not compatible with Windows as far as the DirectDraw and DirectX refresh rates go. To fix this problem, go to Start...Run...type in DXDIAG, and click OK. Then on the DXDIAG software, click on the "More Help" tab.

Then click on "Override". Then, select "Override Value" and enter in the value of 60. This worked for me, and now all 3D apps work for me flawlessly! Give it a try, you have nothing to lose, it might work as it did for me!
