Simultaneous input on Audigy 2??

Ok, the story is that my friend has a band and he's getting pretty good... It's only him and his little brother so far so I was thinking of plugging the line-out from the guitar amp to the line-in on my card, then I would use a microphone for the drumset.

I know I could do them both seperately like in rooms or something but it's better if they hear each other. They have a **** computer and we don't have any professional recording equipment. I usually wouldn't care but he is one of my best friends and he sais I'll make 20% on whatever demo cd's he sells (he's expecting to sell quite a few ).

Is recording from both at the same time possible on an Audigy 2 (regular version)?? All I have besides the default software that I can use is Adobe Audition (30 day trial) and I want to know if anyone can help me here or give me advice... thanks.

Really, you should get software and hardware that both support ASIO or else you'll have a heck of a time dealing with the latency. Try singing into a mic and monitoring it on headphones with even 10ms latency. It's disconcerting. There's a lot of inexpensive options, including entry level audio sequencers by cakewalk and input boxed from M-Audio.

I use the M-Audio Delta-44 and Sonar 3, among many other things in my home studio. On the low end, something like this supports ASIO without breaking the bank and is easy to set-up and use, and has software bundled that may work for getting started. On the software end there are hundreds and hundreds of options. Check out user reviews at harmonycentral.com

edit: ok, I was thinking of the original audigy not Audigy 2. It looks like it does a lot of what you need including ASIO (a big difference from the original that I still use for games).
