I know it is long, but please help me, it's been angering me for awhile now.
Recently my sound went out on my computer. I was using the on-board nVidia sound device. It was run through the output into a Kenwood receiver which split into two very old Fisher 12" speaker cabs. It was working fine for a long time. One day it just started slowly static-ing out and went out in a matter of 10 minutes. Thinking the audio on the mobo went out. Today I went out and bought a Sound Blaster Live! PCI sound card. Came hope, popped it in, rebooted, installed drivers and software. To my surprise, nothing. I am still getting zero sound out of my speakers. I went into the sounds and Audio devices proprieties and made some changes: Hitachi DVD-Rom GD-8000 Samsung CD-R/RW SW-252B Standard Game Port NVIDIA nForce Audio Codec Interface (Disabled) NVIDIA nFoce MCP Audio Processing Unit (Disabled) Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit Audio Codecs Legacy Audio Drivers Media Control Devices Legacy Video Capture Devices Video Codecs I disabled the two NVIDIA related devices and still nothing. I haven't been able to listen to anything for so long, please help. Thanks. Austin Also: I know for a fact the speakers and reciever work. I took the cable going into my output from my computer, and plugged it into a discman just to check. They work. |

Okay, so you have verified that the audio input to your stereo system works by plugging another device into it. I assume you plugged the cable into the output of the soundblaster card when you installed that.
Is there any front-connections on the case associated with the sound, and are they now plugged into the new card? What sounds have you tried to play since you put the new card in? Have you checked the sound settings in the OS?
