Sound card issue
Hi fellow devs
I have been using a DMX 6fire 24/96 card for around 4 months and i bought it second hand - it has been great so far - tho it has in the past few days started to cut the sound and add interferance. I dont know a great deal about these things and was wondering if anyone could help or point me in the right direction - i have searched the net but i cant find anything relevant. thanks Anotherfn |

Are you sure it's the card? Could it be your headphones or speakers?

Chances are there is a driver conflict.

Try updating your driver to the latest version and see if it works better, which it should.
If not, and your headphones and speakers work fine with other cards, then I'm afraid your sound card could be on it's way out. |

hi i updated the driver when it first happened - the only driver i could find was from the terratec web site @ http://supportuk.terratec.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewsdownload&sid=107
i have uploaded a short sample of an mp3 playing on my system to let you hear the problem (and no the problem is not the type of music i listen to - lol) http://www.anotherfn.com/test.mp3 any help would be great as i cant afford a new sound card and it has worked fine for the last 6 months so i hope it can be fixed. |

I had a little listen to your link, but I couldn't really hear anything different.
I found a driver for it here, but I had a look at where you got yours and they seem the same. Un-install the existing drivers totally and then re-install again. What version of Windows are you running ?? |

XP SP2 - i think i am going to have a little format and re-setup because i cant afford for this not to work and i will put another mp3 up to let you hear - your the second person to say that

A re-format is a bit extreme at the moment !
Try totally un-installing the drivers and the card and then a total re-install of both first before you format. Also, the .mp3's you are linking us to - unless you are playing these through your computer and then recording the sound coming from your speakers through another device and then making that sound file into an mp3 then there is no point ![]() |
