hey
i have a Diamond Vipper V770 (TNT2) and have had it set to AGP 2x for as long as i've had it- until now. i only just found out that my card and motherboard supports AGP 4x so i found out how to switch over. I bought some jumpers and put them in place on the card. However windows xp pro hasn't noticed that im on 4X now. Also in some resolutions my monitor now displays out of range. ive tried reinstalling nvidia drivers but dont really want to remove the card completely for reinstallation!! also set my motherboard to 4x instead of 2x. any ideas please!! hais |

First Step

Hi, I have the same card as yours and need to set it up for my new Gigabyte GA-7VAXP mainboard. At the moment I need to install the hardware for AGP 4X(1.5V). If you guide me for setting the jumpers properly, I will try to test its operation under XP and will let you know the result ASAP. Cheers, ajav |

Some things to consider:
- Download the latest Nvidia drivers, completely uninstall the current ones (through windows uninstall), reboot to standard vga mode, then install the new drivers. - Use the latest version and bios for the card - Check your motherboard settings. The default could be set to 2x. You would want to look up the settings in your mobo manual or download it from the manufacturer. you know 99.999% chance of a power outage won't occur. As I'm thinking about it, I think the frontside bus speed also has some impacts on the agp multiplier. Definately get your mobo manual and check what it says about setting the agp (I'm assuming it's agp) speed. |

hey
i love the way its taken 6 months for people to reply lol anyway in that time ive reformatted my pc and checked all the settings in my motherboards manual and my motherboard is definatley set in 4x mode. im just thinking my motherboard and the v770 arnt 100% compatible. Im sorry but i dont exactly remember the jumper settings but one set of the jumpers needs switching over to its other settings and the other jumper holder needs a jumper put in place (jumpers usually included in the package but i had to buy a pack of 50 of ebay ) however still no luck. i found the graphics cards manual on the net sumwhere in PDF form so give google a go. im well overdue for a cpu, motherboard and graphics card upgrade so i think i'll start saving up!! windows xp is about the only new thing worth keeping in my pc and im even tempted to buy a second hand mac for work while i upgrade this pensioner of a pc. maybe a new pc will stray me away from temptation. LOL thanks a million guys anyway, hais |
