The Best Video Card for My PC

Hello, I was wondering what you what kind of video card do you recommend I upgrade for my PC, a price range from $100-$300 here are my specs:

Intel P4 w/HT 3.00 GHz
1.5 GB of DDR Ram
Nvidia GeForce FX 52000

Thats a pretty big price range. The more you spend the better you get. The Radeon 9800 pro is nice in the $200 range, $300 gets you into ordinary geForce 6800 territory.

Online, at least in the US, newegg.com is my favorite for most anything. Good selection, good prices, great service.

OC'd 9800pro 128mb. Plays Doom 3 on 1024x768 with "high" detail at decent frame rates. (with 1gb ram, p4 2.4c@3ghz)

I have a Geforce FX5200 256mb DDR in an Athlon that i am going to upgrade soon. Do you think i need to get a new grpahics card to play Doom 3 and HL2??? Thanks..

It all narrows down to how deep your wallet is, and the quality of your gaming, the card can run those games fine, but your graphic options will be near the bottom.

I would reccomend you check www.pricewatch.com and probably get a geforce fx 5900 128 mb for 169

i always had terrible problems with the fx 5900's.

maybe it was just my amd system chewing them up but i say go for radeon series.
