DirectX cannot be uninstalled, and I do not think it can be downgraded, either (correct me if I'm wrong).
Are you sure it's a DX-graphics card problem? What makes you think so?

hello
thanks for replying to previous query. i had a problem while playing games in the computer. the game is very slow and sometimes it is ver y fast. the same game works perfectly fast in my friends laptop. he is using Directx8.1. i don't know why it happens. maybe the latest version of directx9.0 is not compatible with my graphics card. i tried running the "dxdiag" in run command and tested the "DirectDraw" and "Direct3D". It seems everything is working fine. but suddenly the bouncing box slows down and speeds up again. samething happens when i play game also. is there any other way that i can downgrade the directx9.0c to directx8.1 other than reinstalling my windows again. Waiting for ur reply thanks Venkata Krishna |

I had this problem some time ago.
Here's how I put an older version of dx on: Go to regedit go to HKLM>Software>Microsoft>DirectX Change all the 9s (version no.s) in in all the entries to 8. Go to dxdiag and check your direct X version - this should change it to 8.0 or something similiar. Then run the directx 8.1 installer It will think you have an older version of directX and thus allow you to install 8.1. |

This is a duplicate post of this thread. You have some answers here, so I will not delete it, however, I am closing it. Further assistance can be had at the other thread, which will remain active.
Needless to say, in the future, refrain from posting the same question more than once.
