Video Card Freezes
So I've recently installed a GeForce 6200 AGP 8x video card into my comp. Shortly after my computer started randomly freezing on me after a few minuets of use:

Screen remained as it was, no refreshing or anything
Ignores keyboard commands
Full application freezes

Here are the following things I've done to remedy the problem:

Reinstall and update drivers
Delete all former drivers (as oppose to disabling them)
Virus scans
Direct X Diagnostic

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Note: The freezes have happened less after deleting the former graphics drivers from the comp.

What model of graphics card were you using previously ? There have been issues from changing an nVidia card to a GeForce one.

Have you checked your running processes to make sure all processes relating to your old drivers have been disabled ?

what are you doing when this happens? if you let the computer sit doing nothing for an hour do it happen, what if your doing stuff, does it happen after a consistent amount of time after something? it might be possible that's its overheating, you might want to open the case and if it has a fan make sure its running, maybe get some utilities to check your system voltages as it could even be causing the power supply to fluctuate out of spec, so what size power supply do you have

I was running a NVidia 5500 before switching, so that could indeed be the problem here.

Normally, I'm just surfing when the computer freezes.

That reminds me, when I'm playing something that's graphically demanding (Warcraft 3) the computer restarts instead of freezes. I'm not sure if that'll help much. I'm checking the processes now so I'll update this post.

EDIT- There are no former processes of the previous video card running.

Well, I've discovered something that may be of help for this. Yesturday I managed to play Diablo II for an extended amount of time. However, when I closed it and began surfing the internet the computer froze. So this made me begin to wonder if it wasn't my mozilla broswer. I'm going to uninstall and reinstall it and see if that fixes the problem.

Can't see anything in that log that would cause crashing. Did you have any luck with re-installing Firefox ??

Although, if it's not just happening when you are playing a game, we have to examine the possibility that it might not be your graphics card that's been the problem all along.

Reinstalling Firefox did not solve the problem. It normally only happens now when I open an IE program. And then it's now instantaenious. I've ran several virus scans since this would point to some sort of viral takeover, however the scans have found nothing.

Another thing to note is that Windows is having trouble updating. I've attempted to get security updates however there's an error with them and they can't be installed. That might have something to do with it. Crap, now I'm worried now. Thanks for the help ^_^;;

Not at the moment. Even if you were to do either a repair installation or a re-installation of Windows, your data would be safe.

Can you go to Start > Run and type 'sfc /scannow' (without the quotes). This will start the System File Checker and make sure all your system files aren't corrupted.

Just ran the scan. When it finished the application just closed so I did it again with the same result. I'm not sure if it's supposed to do that but simce I didn't get any error messages I'm not sure if it's good or bad.
