winfast 2000xp: getting dubbed while recording

I am using the winfast PVR software to record from VCR.

The preview looked good, but once I press the record button,
the sound gets replaced with the sound from the TV channel, while the picture stay on the VCR, thus when I playback, I get the picture from the vcr but audio from the TV channel.

could it be the audio recording line setting? I read on the manual that this can be used to dub audio from other sources (good, although not what I want to do at this time) but the manual is not clear on this. I've tried different settings, but it seemed to have no effect. What should the setting be?
