BDB update errors..weird stuph!

Hi there...
we're using the bdb compile dversion of MySQL and have hit a rather interesting snag....
today it started dropping data. After doing several inserts/commits...which werk..any update statement causes a connection error, and the table data gets dumped entirely!.
was wondering if anyone else has experiemced anything like this, and if so, wtf is going on??
