BI + Analytics Recommendations

Hi,

I plan to use MySQL as the engine behind some Business Intelligence and Analytic Reporting functions.

The purpose is for non-realtime reporting with stats and other information coming from other sources before report generation.

I'd like to know what other people are doing in this space; eg are you using readily available MySQL add-ons to perform this or writing your own code etc. If using add-ons, which ones do you recommend?
