I'm in a bit of a predicament right now..
I'm working with a MySQL database that is running on a Win32 box, and I've been put in charge of writing a bunch of Perl scripts on a BSDI 3.1 box that will interface with the MySQL database.
I have Perl with DBI and all the rest installed, the problem is that I need to install the DBD driver for MySQL, and it won't install without MySQL being present.
But I don't have MySQL installed on the BSDI box, so it won't compile. Installing MySQL on the BSDI system is apparently not an option that my system admin is willing to consider, due to the work involved.
Has anyone been able to do this? I need to build the DBD on BSDI without having to first install MySQL, so that I can then communicate with the MySQL database on the Win32 box..
