    Hi.. another stupid question from me.. Just wondering if anyone could help.. I've giot a site I'm putting together (www.fixituk.cjb.net for now) which is storing some data. Unfortunately fields consisting of more than one word with a space in there seem to lose everything after the space.. if it's any help they're varchars..

    Cheers for any help you can offer,

    Ryan

    My guess is that the data is never being put in the database in the first place. Check where you are actually inserting the data and I'll bet that the variables are only one word long. I'll bet you're passing variables through the url, also. You can't have spaces in the url. You have to urlencode() variables that you want to pass through the url, that way the spaces are taken care of.

    If the multiple words are being stored and you are returning the values to a form for update make sure that the data is in quotes.

    I had a problem with the above and it turned out that I had value=".$myrow[1]." instead of
    value="$myrow[1]"
    so the resulting html was
    <input type="text" name="txtPosition" size="60" maxlength="100" value=Academic Director>
    where it should have been
    <input type="text" name="txtPosition" size="60" maxlength="100" value="Academic Director">

    This thread pointed me in the right direction: http://www.devshed.com/Talk/Forums/F...ML/001265.html
