I've tried searching for this but I'm not sure I know what to search for. I'm trying to select a date from a database that is before a certain date. The problem I'm having is this, the query I'm using:

PHP Code:

//$today is a UNIX_TIMESTAMP of today

$results2=mysql_query("SELECT FROM_UNIXTIME(`date`) FROM vinfo WHERE date < '$today' ORDER BY date DESC ") or die(mysql_error());
Shows no dates, whereas if I change it to:

PHP Code:
$results2=mysql_query("SELECT FROM_UNIXTIME(`date`) FROM vinfo WHERE date > '$today' ORDER BY date DESC ") or die(mysql_error());
it works fine. How can a date from the past be greater in seconds than a date now? I've even tried turning $today into next week and still the same results.

I know it's got to be simple, but I can't figure it out.

Thanks for any help you give
