I used the command
show coumns from customers from JMW;
so I could view the table and column structure of this table.
Because there are so many fields, the entire table structure scrolls by my screen and I can only see the bottom half of the structure...How do I prevent it from scrolling (is there a /p or /w like in DOS??)

If you are using a Unix or Linux shell (such as bash) there is always a way to scroll up and see data that has scrolled past the screen buffer. For Linux the method is usually SHIFT + PageUP or PageDOWN. For FreeBSD Unix you hit the Scroll Lock key and then PageUP or PageDown or up or down arrows.

Also, If you open a telnet session inside X-windows, there is usually a scrollbar on the right (or sometimes the left). Sometimes the the scrollbar is 'inside' the shell (not a windows-type scrollbar), in which case you can hold down the middle mouse button and pull it up or down.

Hope this helps.
