Hi,
I'm looking for an Front-End GUI for MySql. I've found a few, but I want to hear your suggestions / recomendations before I jump into any of them. The GUI I'm looking for is mainly: - Works under Xwin - Simpy data entry and query is enough - Better not only work for MySql, but aslo other SQL3/SQL92 compliant - freeware, GPL and better open source Tools meets above requirements that I found so far are (selected listing): ## Gentry == Info Gentry aids in the entry of data into a MySQL database through the use of a GUI. It requires a database and table on a local MySQL server and connects using your username. From there, the program builds a data entry screen based on the table columns. Category: X11/Database Depends on: mysql gtk-1.2 == Source http://gentry.sourceforge.net/ ## WIDD == Info WIDD is a front-end application to manage databases through an X11 interface. You can create new instances or classes and submit search queries. In fact WIDD replaces psql of the PosttgreSQL package for example. WIDD can be used with all databases conform with SQL3/SQL92 standard (like MySQL or PosrgreSQL) with JDBC drivers. It requires JDK 1.1.x in order to operate. == Source http://www.info.unicaen.fr/~nicolas/widd/ But each of them depend on some extra tools that I haven't got time to look into... Any experiences / suggestions? Thanks |

Check out http://kphpdev.sourceforge.net/
It's still in beta, but it looks promising. It's actually a RAD environment for PHP, but it also has a SQL query analyzer and database admin kit. This one requires the KDE window manager, which I believe is the most complete window manager for X. |
