Hopefully someone can help !
I have sucessfully set up php on 2 machines for local developement
1) Win98 / Omnihttpd server
2) Win2K
Have then installed on both machines mySql and then the problem ;
Win98 machine

Call to unsupported or undefined function mysql_connect

I am also getting this error when I try to connect to my mySQL db. Both php, mySQL and my web server (Omni] are working separately but php won't talk to mySQL (I've started the mySQL deamon too).

Win2K machine

Installed, got PHP running locally, try mySQL and from the command prompt

C:>cd c:mysqlbin

C:mysqlbin>mysqld-shareware

C:mysqlbin>mysql
ERROR 2003: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)

Or from IE php page

Data from the table

Warning: MySQL Connection Failed: Can't connect to MySQL server on localhost (10061) in C:Inetpubwwwroothtdocsdatabaseindex.php on line 14
My Message - Problem connecting to Database

Any help appreciated cos I'm slowly banging my head against the wall !

Hi Soup, I too am having problems with php-mysql and setting it up for win98 [2nd edition] I have a tcp-ip Lan [win98 2nd edition allows this, and I have O'Reilly's WebSite Pro Server, the documentation I have found so far is of little help with setting up on a win98 machine, and totally lacking on setting up with website pro.

I would appreciate it if we can share some of our knowledge, we seem to be out on a limb here! - I am also setting up a Linux box with redhat v6.1 - I will probably run a server in parrallel with my win98 Mc until I can get everything I need running on the win98 system

Thanks for the opportunity to discuss this with you

Kiwijor.
