    How can u include symbols like "+" "*" etc (ie if they are forming a part of your search string ) in the regexp comparision. because mysql regexp interprets it as a operator and gives an syntax error
    eg
    select words from resume where words regexp '[[:<:]]VC++[[:>:]]';

    that is working on mysql prompt so i have to probably manipulate it through perl ....still the thing is it cannot be made geralized ...cause that vc++ is in a variable and it could be anything like marketing or java or c++ etc

    Is this a situation where you can't use MySQL's 'LIKE' syntax?
