    How to install mysqld

    Dear all,

I know the different between mysql (to access the server once it is started) and mysqld (mysql deamon or executable that will start the server) from this forum.
I installed mysql on Centos . When I want to run it automativally after booting with this command :
"sudo /sbin/chkconfig --level 2345 mysqld on"
my system doesn't recognize mysqld. So, I had to modify the command become
"sudo /sbin/chkconfig --level 2345 mysql on"

My question : is it normal for not having mysqld ?

    Thank you.

If you want to install MySQL, why did you post this in the Microsoft SQL Server forum?
I will not read nor answer questions where the SQL code is messy and not formatted properly using [code] tags.

Unless it isn't working, don't worry about it.

Different Linux distros have different names for the same services. It's called mysqld on some and mysql on others.

The name fragmentation is even greater for other services, like Apache. Some distros call it httpd, some call it apache, some call it apache2, etc.
