    maysqladmin drop database syntax?

    Newbie here! I just set up mysql on windows.

    Here's the problem. I added a password for root access. Now when I run the command;
    shell> mysqladmin -u root-name -p drop my-database

    After entering my password it gives me the output;
    Dropping the database is potentially a very bad thing to do.
    Any data stored in the database will be destroyed.

    Do you really want to drop the 'my-database' database [y/N]

    OK, aborting database drop!

    It dosn't wait for me to enter Y, it just aborts every time.

    I've tried placing \Y switches into the command-line to try and get it to drop a database but it's not playing the game!

    Any ideas please?

    If anyone else has this problem then the answer is to use the -f or --force switch to bypass confirmation.

    Funny enough I didn't spot this in the mans but on someones 'tips' page. Must be in there someplace tho. :s
