I'm running a Webten (apache) server on my mac to locally test my php pages before I upload. How (if possible) can add mySql support for my pages. I've looked at the mySql homepage but they only have software for unix, os2 and the likes. Is there no mySql apache module for the mac?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I think you might be out of luck with that one. My recommendation, if you want to test locally, is to get an older Pentium (like a P100) with a 1 or 2 gig hard drive, and run Linux. The machine should cost almost nothing; you don't even need a good monitor, and you can get a CD with most of the major Linuxes for almost nothing at www.cheapbytes.com

(Linux Mandrake comes with the option to have Apache, PHP, and MySQL installed with the OS)

Of course, you will want a small hub and ethernet card, also, but that should be another minor expense. The plus is you get to learn a little more about how a server OS works.

Thanks for your input,

I did consider setting up a pc server but I kind of short on physical space and would rather avoid more more hardware. Still if that's the only way to go... ;-(

Hey there.

I do not run a web server on the Macintosh. I do, however, use a Macintosh to connect to MySQL. I found a page (that might not be that much help), but you can look into it about MacSQL...
