Did you start the MySQL deamon? Did you start your server?
Start your apache server. Then: In DOS-box, go to your MySQL install-dir and choose bin subdir (e.g. c:mysqlbin) and run MYSQLD. This starts your MySQL deamon. Now it should work if the configurations are right. Regards, Peter |

I'm having the same problem. Funny thing is I have been using Mysql successfully for over a year and suddenly this error pops up.
I can't get mysqld to run and am having the same error. Is it possible for the port number to be other than 3306 or is this written in stone? I don't know if this is relevant but is it worth trying other port numbers? Thanks for any assistance offered. Jim Coyle |

It shouldn't be the port. Your problem is mysqld not starting. What happens when you try to run it?
It may have become corrupt. Try reinstalling just mysqld. |
