    Where do I get mysqld_safe?

Hey guys...... I need to recover my MySQL root PW & it seems I need to run mysqld_safe.exe so I can login without a password.... but I can not for the life of me find out where I can get this file?

I normally use xampp & it's not included there, so I downloaded MySQL from mysql.com & it's not included there either.

    HELP!!!!!!!

It's not a .exe file it's a shell script (.sh) and it is only available on Unix and you don't need it.

You just run the normal mysqld binary:
    mysqld.exe --skip-grant-tables ...

That way the mysql server starts and you can change the password.
Just remember to stop and start the server once more after you changed it since otherwise the server is still wide open for access.
