I have heard and read from some sources that mySQL could handle as many as millions of records in a database.

I am setting up a database using mySQL and was just wondering if anyone out here had real experience with some BIG - LOTS of data in mySQL. Do you run into any performance, speed (over the internet), and even crash/corrupt!?

PLEASE ADVISE - Any warnings, suggestions about how many tables should we have in one database? Say I intend to have 20 tables, each has at least 50,000 rows (with around 20 fields per table), should I split those tables into 2 databases (maybe 10 tables per database)? Or is it just fine to put all 20 in just 1 database??
