Is MySQL really so damn slow?!
Getting a MySQL connection from PHP takes FIVE SECONDS. No matter if I use persistent or non-persistent connection. What's wrong?

I am trying out PHP + MySQL. The web server runs on Linux but I use a NT4 PC for developing. It's on the PC things go slow. I haven't tried it on the Linux server as I do not have access to MySQL there yet.

thnx
Erik
