Just in case you have a moment, and you'd like to make a desperate man happy :

I have MySql on Linux. Default installation puts the mysqld.sock file in the tmp directoy. Where it promptly gets deleted by cron.

The FM tells you how to lock the gate after the horse has bolted, but not how to put it back in its box. I've tried rebuilding MySQL twice with the suggested configure string (to put .sock in a new location) but twice the file itself has failed to materialise, leaving me without my database. Any suggestions please,

Ta,

Ben
