i have following problem, perhaps somebody can help me.
when i enter:
mysqladmin -u root password 'xxx'
then following message occures:
mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: NO)'
What is wrong?
if i say mysqladmin ping then the answer is
mysqld is alive
The mysql is newly installed...
Thanks in advance for help?

Re-read the error message, that'll tell you what's wrong. See the part (Using password: NO)?
Now, re-read the manual on the correct syntax for starting mysqladmin

try changing "password" to "-p", as the manual explains...
