    MySQL 3.22.32
    Linux Redhat 6.2

When I run /path/libexec/mysqld or /path/bin/safe_mysqld at the command line, the mysql daemon starts up ok but a new prompt does not appear in the console. If I want to shutdown the daemon I have to open up another console and run /path/bin/mysqladmin shutdown which will then stop the mysql daemon which will be reflected in the previous console and a new prompt will appear.

Is it possible to start mysqld and continue using the same console?

    Thanks,
    Ryan

    Hi,

Start the server with path/bin/safe_mysqld & (or path/bin/mysqld &). Mayby jou have to press <ENTER> one time after the server is stared.

    I hope it works.

    Greetings,

    Wytse

    Hi Wytse,
I upgraded to 3.23.22-beta and hitting <enter> after starting the daemon with

    /path/safe_mysqld &
    or
    /path/mysql.server start

    seems to work.

    Thanks,
    Ryan
