Illegal mix of collations
Running a query to clean up some improperly formatted characters:
I get this error:
UPDATE jobs SET title = REPLACE(title, '᾿', '\"');
After some browsing, people are suggesting to alter the table's default charset to UTF8. I've tried that and it doesn't work.
#1270 - Illegal mix of collations (latin1_swedish_ci,IMPLICIT), (utf8_general_ci,COERCIBLE), (utf8_general_ci,COERCIBLE) for operation 'replace'
If I change the fields collation to UTF8_general_ci all is well.
I'm wondering if this is a good solution and if it's okay to change the collation of all my fields to this.
