    [Solved] Permissions problems

    Hello all,

    I am having permission problems. the following is the error

    Access to path 'some path\app_data\my.mdb' was denied. The location does not exist or is not accessible because of security settings.

    win2k3 iis 6.0

    the directory structure is as follows
    f:\sites\mysite\webroot - configured as website
    f:\sites\mysite\app_data
    f:\sites\mysite\webroot\myapp - configured as application

    app_data has permissions set with modify asp.net user, iusr, iwan,iis worker process all have modify for the directory and sub folders and files
    webroot has the same users assigned but with read and execute

    when I try to see if the directory f:\sites\mysite\app_data exists it returns false when I make the call from f:\sites\mysite\webroot\myapp

    It works on our staging server, but not in production. could this involve the machine.config files. Is there a way to allow the application to see the directories in front of the myapp directory.

    I have tried many different permission schemes with everyone with full control bt no luck.

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    thanks

    Jack

    The solution was the trust level on the staging server was set to "Full" trust and the production server was set to "Medium" trust. Using OLEDB requires "full" trust.

    segment added to the web.config for the website to override the server "Medium" trust

    <configuration>
    <system.web>
    <trust level="Full" />
    </system.web>
    </configuration>
